The visible hair shaft is made of keratinized cells. The active biological structures that produce the shaft are inside the follicle below the skin.
What are the main phases of the hair growth cycle?
Current medical references describe active growth, anagen, regression, catagen, rest, telogen, and shedding or release, exogen. Follicles cycle independently rather than all moving through the same phase at once.
Is daily hair shedding normal?
Yes, some shedding is part of normal renewal. NCBI references commonly cite roughly 70 to 100 scalp hairs per day as an average. A sudden or persistent change in shedding can have many causes and deserves context rather than a self-diagnosis.
Does cutting hair make it grow faster?
